This best practice guideline is a joint initiative of three major associations (ECTA, ERFA and UIRR) active in freight with the objective to promote the modal shift of chemical substances from road to rail. It serves as a general introductory guideline, outlining the fundamental principles for standardized digital data sharing in intermodal freight transport, and aims to pave the way towards an integrated and standardized digital ecosystem in this sector. Subsequent intermodal freight digital guidelines will further zoom in on specific freight flows as for example the gate in/gate out terminal flows or specific digital collaboration flows between Railways Undertakings, Combined transport Operators and Terminal Operators.
